I have had the wonderful opportunity of participating in the Ed Tech Cohort course! We have explored several forms of technology in the classroom including, SMART Notebook, iPads, clickers, and Doc Cameras. Throughout the course, the topic highlighted was how to use technology in the classroom to encourage student success.
A teacher must know how to use technology effectively in the classroom. As an instructor, it is essential to not rely on technology for slideshow purposes. For example, when using SMART Notebook in the classroom, I develop activities that encourage interactivity. I use the content that I learned as a guide in creating Notebook activities to encourage positive and active student participation. Designing activities that promote students coming to the board and participating is a fundamental goal in my teaching.
Technology is growing in the classroom and educators must evolve with this transformation. I chose the Ed Tech Cohort to learn more about technology in the classroom. I was also interested in how to use technology effectively to encourage student success. I will adopt the strategies I have learned in the Ed Tech Cohort by creating interactive lessons. Ultimately, I believe student participation encourages interest and student success.
